Ian Ferguson Retirement From the 31st January 2007, Ian Ferguson will be retiring as Sales Director. Ian has been a long standing member of the Photek team and we wish him all the best with his well earned retirement.
New Sales Manager Ian Cox B.Eng MIEE Taking over from Ian Ferguson is Ian Cox Photek's new Sales Manager. Ian started his career as an electronics design engineer after finishing his degree at the University of Sussex. From here he moved into sales for a radiocommunications consultancy company where he sold software and also planned a number of radiocommunication networks, including the police communications network on the Isle of Man and fixed wireless networks across Europe. During this time Ian became the European Sales Manager and presented a number of papers across Europe. From here Ian became European Sales Manager for a power supply company and then set up his own company designing and manufacturing a range of home cinema products based on PC technology which sold through major retail outlets across the UK. Ian brings with him a wealth of sales and marketing experience which will be invaluable to Photek as we look to modernise our sales and marketing activity.
New Ultra Fast Gating Modules Photek are pleased to announce the availability of two new gating products. The GM-200-3 gating module for Image Intensifiers or Photomultipliers gates down to 3ns with a maximum repetition rate of 200KHz. The GM-200 is avilable in two options; the GM-200N which gates on and the GM-200P which gates off. The GM-200-3 represents a marked improvement on Photek’s previous gate module the GM150-20 which had a gating speed down to 20ns and a maximum repetition rate of 150KHz. The second new gating product is the GM-MCP for micro channel plate (MCP) gating down to 8-10 ns. Photek Provides Detectors for Multi-Wavelength Astronomy Satellite Photek in conjunction with the Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) has developed and manufactured the imaging tubes for one of five payloads on board the ASTROSAT spacecraft, India’s first satellite dedicated to multi-wavelength astronomy. The satellite is scheduled for launch in 2008 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The aims of ASTROSAT involve multi-band observations in wavelengths extending from hard X-rays to the visible band to investigate the origin and mechanism of radiation emissions in active galactic nuclei.
